Sunhead Games and Humble Games‘ adventure game Carto has a unique map puzzle mechanic that changes the world quite literally.

After all the jumpscares and bloodshed offered by various horror games in the past few days, it’s refreshing to see something as charming as this game with young girl Carto trying to find her way back to her grandmother from whom she got separated by a storm.

The hero’s name is in the game, as Carto has cartography powers that allow her to collect map pieces and then rearrange them in order to solve puzzles and progress in the story. It’s a concept that has been seen in many boardgames in which tiles have to be placed strategically, but in this case it’s all part of telling a heartwarming story that is presented in a colorful, child-friendly visual style that can be played by anyone who wants to relax for a while after all the Halloween mayhem.

The game is out now on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch with a 10% launch discount that lasts until November 3, 2020, at 5 PM UTC.
