October 2020 was full of scary Halloween reviews, but also celebrated 30 years of a certain pirate adventure game.

First my writing habits had to change because of the new WordPress Block editor, which I still find a bit cumbersome:
Goodbye, old WordPress Editor; hello, new WordPress Block Editor
Overviews were again published wherever time allowed, and as September 2020 was already crowded with articles, the Disney+ watchlist was lost along the way, making its appearance a month later.
Amazon Prime Video watchlist: September 2020
Disney+ watchlist: August 2020
Netflix watchlist: September 2020

There were so many game releases that the Halloween gaming and movie special weeks usually had two or even three articles per day:
Adventures of Chris
Afterparty (GOG and Steam versions)
Aquanox Deep Descent
Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered
Cyber Hook
Ikenfell
Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp
The Outer Worlds (GOG and Steam versions)
Panzer Dragoon: Remake
Pumpkin Jack
Remothered: Broken Porcelain
ScourgeBringer
The Signifier
The Sojourn (GOG and Steam versions)
The Uncertain: Light At The End
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Heart of the Forest
GOG didn’t make things any easier with its 12th anniversary celebration and sales being accompanied by more game releases:
GOG celebrates 12th anniversary with 3 new games and promo sale
GOG releases 5 new horror games with a Halloween sale
The Konami games making their DRM-free debut were quite a surprise:
“Ankh 2: Heart of Osiris” and “Ankh 3: Battle of the Gods”
Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra
“Metal Gear”+”Metal Gear Solid”+”Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance”
Relicta
There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension
Freebies this month were varied and not always scary:
Amazon Prime Gaming free games in October 2020
Epic Games Store free games: “ABZÛ” and “Rising Storm 2: Vietnam”
Epic Games Store free games: “Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs” and “Kingdom: New Lands”
Epic Games Store free games: “Costume Quest 2” and “Layers of Fear 2”
Epic Games Store free game: “Pikuniku”
GOG free game: “Europa Universalis II”
Due to the Halloween season, it was obvious that October had more reviews than ever, but with the original The Secret of Monkey Island celebrating its 30 years anniversary, there were even more:
Barrow Hill: Curse of the Ancient Circle
Barrow Hill: The Dark Path
Blair Witch
Layers of Fear 2
Simulacra
Simulacra 2
Stories Untold
Tales of Monkey Island
Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town
Of course Guybrush Threepwood’s birthday had to be celebrated with Kim from the Later Levels blog:
30 years of “The Secret of Monkey Island” tag questions of Later Levels blog
Last but not least, the annual Halloween movie madness returned with more than just 7 reviews, as I chose lots of sequels:
Movie reviews:
“The Blair Witch Project” + “Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2”
One Missed Call 1+2+Final
Quarantine 1+2
Pulse (2001)
[Rec] 1-4
Ring 1+Spiral+2+0+Sadako 3D
“Unfriended” + “Unfriended: Dark Web”
It was a rather good idea to prepare the reviews months before, as I don’t think I could have managed to write them in October with all the game releases. Thankfully it all worked out, and even if there are many more game reviews to write, I hope I’ll have a less stressful November, despite already having the first week with two articles per day.
