Netflix watchlist: November 2020

There was only one movie to watch in November 2020, and it would have been a better fit for October during Halloween.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen [7/10]

Back in 2017, The Babysitter was a pleasant surprise hit for me, as I gave it a 10/10 in the Netflix watchlist: October 2017 article. It was probably the best party flick one could watch during Halloween, and the sequel Killer Queen is almost as entertaining and wild. However, this time it feels as if too many bad jokes and too many one-liners are used to make it as hip and cool as possible. It’s not, because its death sequences are already gory and imaginative enough that it doesn’t really need stoner and sexual gross-out humor, anyway. So the movie feels a bit messy at times, as if the countless twists should compensate for a very barebones story and the lack of originality.

I didn’t expect a sequel to The Babysitter, and at times it feels it wasn’t really necessary after 3 years. But considering how tedious some new teenager flicks in either genre (especially on Netflix) have become with taking themselves too seriously, Killer Queen comes highly recommended for simple splatter fun that can be enjoyed by comedy and horror fans alike.
