Mucky Foot Productions and My Little Planet‘s third-person action-adventure game Urban Chaos makes a retro return on GOG.

Urban Chaos is quite a different beast compared to Muck Foot’s next game Startopia (see yesterday’s article), as it’s neither a strategy nor a humorous title. Instead it presents a gritty and violent setting in the form of Union City where the evil cult of the Fallen wants to bring the apocalypse right on time with the new millenium. Only members of the UCPS police force are on the case to prevent this and clean the streets, with rookie cop D’Arci Stern doing her best to kick and shoot her way through crime.

Of course the world didn’t come to an end in the year 2000 (although it’s not looking good 20 years later with the current pandemic), and the 3D visuals obviously haven’t aged very well. However, the gameplay might have been years ahead of its action-adventure competition with an open world where one could roam the city and tackle varied missions, including car chases, gun fights and lots close quarter combat sequences, resulting in some rather bloody action and swearing.

Urban Chaos was originally released in December 1999 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 25% launch discount that lasts until January 26, 2021, at 2 PM UTC.
