GOG brings back classic 3D platforming action with Tate Multimedia‘s Kao the Kangaroo Trilogy.

Kao the Kangaroo Trilogy is a throwback to the Noughties when 3D platformers with antropomorphic characters were still going strong. It starts with the original Kao the Kangaroo (released in 2000), starring a kangaroo that jumps and fights its way back to Australia after being kidnapped. Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 (released in 2003) brings in a few animal friends that help the titular hero to conquer each new world, while Kao the Kangaroo: Mystery of the Volcano (released in 2005) abandons individual levels in favor of an open world, introducing jetboats and planes one can take control of.

While Kao might not be as popular in the world as in its native country Poland, it seems that there’s still a lot of love for the character and the games, because a new title is in the works at the moment. There’s certainly something to be said about a kangaroo that punches enemies in the face and is a jack-of-all-trades in transportation systems, including a snowboard and hang-glider, so anyone interested in the history of some wackier gaming, should give this trilogy a try.

Kao the Kangaroo Trilogy is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 10% launch discount that lasts until February 22, 2021, at 2 PM UTC.
