Game release: “Astrodogs” (PC)

Dynamic Media Triad and Digital Tribe Games‘ on-rails arcade action game Astrodogs makes aerial combat cute again.

It’s funny that only yesterday I wrote about the GOG release of “Warhammer 40,000: Dakka Squadron – Flyboyz Edition”, a much darker version of aerial combat games, and now with this new title, one is faced with a more lighthearted approach. The titular crew of freelance bounty hunters has to defend the galaxy from the evil corporation WOOFER, and it’s up to Shiba Ace Pilot Kombo to bring it down.

While I’m more a cat than a dog person, it’s still somehow okay to see the furry animals fly through colorful levels and make things explode in the best Starfox way possible, including all the nonsense chatter during missions. So despite not offering much originality, it’s always nice to have another on-rails shooter, especially if it has such a charming hand-drawn style and catchy music to go with it.

The game is out now on PC with a 10% launch discount that lasts until April 15, 2021, at 1 PM UTC.
