Game release: “Siege of Avalon: Anthology” (PC)

Digital Tome, General Arcade, and Steffen Nyeland’s classic fantasy RPG series Siege of Avalon arrives in its complete Anthology form on digital stores.

Text-heavy games can often feel like books, and in the case of Siege of Avalon, this is sometimes the intention: Divided into six chapters, the Anthology version tells the story of the Citadel of Avalon which is obviously under attack by monsters in the form of the Sha’ahoul.

Being originally released in 2000, one might see this as the precursor of episodic gaming. But then again the era of shareware software with Doom and other bite-sized releases did it before. Be it as it may, the full game offers plenty of RPG opportunities to customize one’s character with various classes and skills, while doing lots of fights, quests, and looting. Being open source, the game/book might actually never end.

The game is out now on PC with a 20% launch discount that lasts until tomorrow, April 15, 2021, at 4 PM UTC.
