Snoozy Kazoo and Graffiti Games‘ cute action-adventure Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion shows that vegetables can be political on GOG.

Despite its cute look, there’s a subversive message behind Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, with the protagonist, a turnip, being evicted from home due to him not having been able to pay his taxes. Now he has to embark on a journey to pay them back to Mayor Onion, although there might be more to it, like a vegetable government conspiracy.

At first, this looks a bit like Stardew Valley (one does a bit of harvesting, too) or any other pixel art farming simulation and adventure, but looks can be deceiving, because one starts ripping up tax documents to destroy the government. This is meant quite literally, as one also fights against corporate swines in boss battles and does everything in order to help the turnip and the people it meets along the way, all with their own little stories to tell.

Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion was originally released in April 2021 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 20% launch discount that lasts until today, May 21, 2021, at 1 PM UTC.
