Tactical Adventures‘ fantasy RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister is out of Early Access and proof that tabletop games can work in the digital space.
It’s been almost two years since I attended the gamescom 2019 presentation, and it’s amazing to see how this title has evolved since then, especially in the graphics department. Of course the tactical gameplay has remained the same, with the license of Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons and Dragons ruleset a clear indication of its tabletop heritage.
Playing in a party of four heroes with unique skills and background stories is a given, and so is rolling dice which works behind the combat scenes. It’s not all fighting and looting, though, because dialogues have an effect on the development of each character, while the Dungeon Maker tool allows creating one’s own adventures if one is done with the main compaign.
The game is out now on PC with a 20% launch discount that lasts until tomorrow, June 2, 2021, at 5 PM UTC. It’s available in a standard or Supporter edition, the latter of which including environmental, weapon, Badlands art packs, in addition to 7 additional dice (3 of which with special effects).
