Yesterday’s celebration of the Bastille Day led to GOG’s new freebies: Microïds‘ classic point-and-clickers Syberia and Syberia II.
While the Bastille Day might have been a happy day for France, the death of Benoît Sokal was quite a shock (see The Benoît Sokal Legacy). Having played the original Syberia and Syberia II, in addition to the reviews of the first and second title, it’s safe to say that it was a loss for the gaming and (comic) arts community.
The games tell the unique story of lawyer Kate Walker who embarks on a journey to find Hans Voralberg, a missing creator of automatons who wants to find the mysterious Syberia where mammoths still live. A heartfelt storyline with great music and art design, not often logical puzzles and character development, but still a piece of gaming history any adventure game fan should at least try once.
Now both games are included in the Syberia I+II bundle and can be downloaded for free until July 17, 2021, at 1 PM UTC. So grab these fantastic titles before the offer expires. There’s also a French games sale at GOG that is worth checking out (and very soon to be covered here as well, as there are new DRM-free additions.).
