Pixel Reef and PID Games‘ adventure/exploration game Paper Beast – Folded Edition unfolds in DRM-free form on GOG.

Éric Chahi has designed quite a few unique games in the past, e.g. Another World or Heart of Darkness, creating memorable worlds and characters to get lost in. So Paper Beast – Folded Edition was only a logical step in his career, tasking players to explore an environment populated by creatures made out of paper.

One doesn’t only interact with these animal-like forms, but also changes the whole scenery, e.g. terraforming mountains, digging lakes, etc.. Offering an adventure and sandbox mode, it’s probably the closest thing of a childhood dream come true: seeing paper creations come to life.

Paper Beast – Folded Edition was originally released in October 2020 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 40% launch discount that lasts until July 23, 2021, at 1 PM UT. A VR version and soundtrack are due for a later date. The release of the game coincides with the French Touch sale (see yesterday’s article) and there’s also an interesting interview with Chahi on GOG to read.
