Game release: “Guild of Darksteel” (PC, Nintendo Switch)

Igor Sandman and Digerati‘s side-scrolling action-platformer Guild of Darksteel delivers dark fantasy horror.

Action-platformers are dime a dozen these days thanks to indie developers, but Lovecraftian horror-inspired ones are still worth checking out, at least when it comes to Eldritch horror creatures. One plays as the immortal Sellsword (a strange name if ever there was one) who wants to join the titular guild and find out what weirdness lies underneath the cities of Ravenrock.

This title is much more story-focused and cinematic than its competitors, as one interacts with citizens and does a bit more detective work. Of course it all ends with a lot of fighting, which obviously means many combos and leveling up. Considering that it’s a one-man development show, what’s on display is pretty impressive.

The game is out now on PC and Nintendo Switch with a 25% launch discount that lasts until July 22, 2021, at 5 PM UTC.
