GOG release: “Phoenotopia: Awakening”

Cape Cosmic and Flyhigh Works‘ action-adventure game Phoenotopia: Awakening offers lots of puzzles and an impeccable pixel art style.

Phoenotopia: Awakening is another example that pixel art can still impress despite all the latest 3D tech demos, as it presents a beautifully animated world where villager Gail tries to rescue all the adults who were abducted by the star ship Phoenix.

It’s obvious that the game was inspired by the The Legend of Zelda series, as one solves all sorts of puzzles in dungeons, involving tools like bombs or the flute. Even hidden heart pieces can be found in the expansive world, but it’s not all vibrant colors and happy making friends or fishing, because over 50 enemy types and 12 bosses have to be defeated, too.

Phoenotopia: Awakening was originally released in January 2021 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 25% launch discount that lasts until July 26, 2021, at 1 PM UTC. The soundtrack can also be bought separately with the same discount.
