GOG release: “Doki Doki Gravity Dive”

Memories in 8Bit makes its game debut on GOG with score attack shmup Doki Doki Gravity Dive.

Doki Doki Gravity Dive‘s inspirations couldn’t be any different, with the gravity system borrowed from Super Mario Galaxy and gameplay similar to Geometry Wars, i.e. one hops from one world to the next and tries to destroy as many enemies as possible in a spaceship that is pulled to the ground.

One could also cite Super Stardust HD as an example of the idea to move around a planet while trying to evade bullets, although in this case the worlds aren’t simply round, but shaped like pyramids, toruses or other geometrical forms. It goes without saying that one picks up lots of power-ups and weapon upgrades in this old-school arcade-like experience that is complemented with a in-the-zone soundtrack.

Doki Doki Gravity Dive is out now as a DRM-free exclusive on GOG (and itch) with a 10% launch discount that lasts until August 24, 2021, at 1 PM UTC. The reason for this is probably because the developer is a streamer on the GOG Twitch channel, but as a first game, this looks and sounds like a lot of fun.
