Game release: “Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery” (PC, iOS, Android)

Silver Lining Studio and Akupara Games‘ interactive fiction Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery brings hand-painted worlds to life.

Yesterday I mentioned in the game release news of the puzzle-platformer Hoa that I’m very fond of hand-painted graphics in games that are often brought to life with fluid animations. So this title is probably the closest one can come to seeing how artists create these worlds or rather stories that are told through paintings.

One plays an artist who tries to paint her final work that is to be submitted to an art gallery. All the while one experiences what everyone in this line of work does: finding the missing colors and being inspired by one’s surroundings, but taking a break once in a while. Similar to Studio Ghibli’s animated movies, what’s on display looks nothing less than stunning.

The game is out now on PC, Android and iOS with a 10% launch discount that lasts until September 1, 2021, at 1 PM UTC.
