New additions to the media collection in August 2021

August 2021 was a rather quiet month with new purchases, but there were still a few nice collector’s items to put on the shelves.

I somehow gave up on trying to understand how I still receive these subscriber exclusive covers without having a subscription, as I don’t have the time nor patience to check all this mess again. Maybe when they’re not delivered anymore and I have to see which orders I placed…

Despite this AT-ST Raider being featured in the terrible The Mandalorian series, it’s still a cool collector’s item.

Some gaming memorabilia I got from my wife and that will be put to good use.

A plush toy from one of my favorite Toy Story movies that really smells like strawberries… and continuing the Disney trend with this boardgame.

There’s simply nothing better than books based on theme park rides, no matter for what age.

A graphic novel more in line with Halloween.

Let’s see if this really has enough action to keep me awake during a “classic” movie.

Speaking of classic movies, I’m curious about The African Queen being as grand an adventure as the Disneyland ride makes it out to be as an inspiration. Will Farrell is obviously always fun to watch.

Not sure if the term adventure fits with this strange flick, as it seems to be a drama despite the even more unusual title.

It’s not a Studio Ghibli movie, but it sure looks like one.

A manga adaptation that hopefully delivers on the zombie action than on overdramatic moments Asian cinema seems to be riddled with.

An unusual fantasy movie I still have to watch and that passed me by unnoticed, so it’s great to have this oddity released in a nice mediabook.

This seems to be a more mainstream fantasy flick and I wish the cover artwork would have been a bit more imaginative.

I’m not sure if it’s true that Neil Marshall’s historical horror drama is as bad as people make it out to be, but the mediabook is simply awesome.

I wasn’t sure if Boss Level should be put in the action or gaming category, but as it’s also sci-fi, I decided on that, although I might change it after I’ve watched the movie. The Flatliners double pack for just 4 EUR was something I couldn’t miss, even though I remember the original movie to be pretty boring. Maybe the remake is a bit more effective.

This 4K BD of One Eight Seven was an accidental purchase, because I thought it was a mediabook or double pack with the standard BD included. Of course I can play it with my Xbox One, but so far I’ve preferred not to pay 10 EUR for a 4K BD alone (only as a mediabook with other discs).

The City Hunter anime flicks were highly entertaining, so I hope this adaptation is just as much fun. With Jackie Chan involved, at least the action will be great.

More Jackie Chan action (including one of my childhood favorites, Dragon Lord) thanks to 88 Films and hopefully another bonkers Italian horror trashfest.

One more Jackie Chan flick and a John Woo exploitation war movie with their individual booklets, in addition to horror with two titles.

Another 101 Films Cult Movie Collection addition that seems to be rather nice to watch.

Last but not least, Vestron Video does it again with a very weird movie I’m looking forward to for the Halloween season, especially with Randy Quaid (Christmas Vacation‘s cousin Eddie) as the lead.

So that’s it once again: an overview of new additions that weren’t as numerous as in July¬†2021, but that’s probably for the best, so that I finally have time to watch, read, play all the stuff I bought before.
