Silicon Knights/Semi Logic Entertainments and Crystal Dynamics/Square Enix‘s dark action-adventure Blood Omen: Legacy is given a new lease of digital life on GOG.

The Legacy of Kain series has seen quite a few releases since the 90ies and started with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain in 1996 on the first Playstation, being ported a year later to PC. It’s set in the dark fantasy world of Nosgoth where humans and vampires co-exist, although soon things turn sour when the undead are hunted down by the living after the latter decided that they don’t want to serve their role as guardians anymore, which again results in a more bloodshed.

As newly resurrected vampire Kain, one has to bring order into the world, i.e. getting rid of the corrupted guardians. What follows is a lot of hack-and-slash action with some violent and bloody outcomes not only because of weapons but the use of spells as well. There are also a few puzzles to solve along the way while following the dark storyline that seems to still resonate with players today (high time for me to cover this series, too).

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain was originally released in 1996/1997 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 10% launch discount that lasts until October 6, 2021, at 1 PM UTC.
