GOG free game: “Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun”

GOG celebrates its current winter sale with Mimimi Games and Daedalic Entertainment‘s RTS Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun as a giveaway.

It’s only been two weeks since I reviewed the original Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and previewed its add-on Aiko’s Choice. While not being planned, it’s probably the best time to give the base game away for free to push sales for the new stand-alone title. This doesn’t change the fact that it remains a highly enjoyable game to play, though.

Whoever wants to know how the Commandos series evolved (BTW, some reviews are ready to be published, but with so many news coming up, they had to be pushed back a bit) and how much Desperados III took from Shadow Tactics should give this amazing title a try, as both its gameplay, presentation, and storytelling stands up very well today after almost 5 years.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun can be downloaded for free until tomorrow, December 15, 2021, at 2 PM UTC. It coincides with the GOG winter sale that runs until January 5, 2022, at 2 PM UTC and has lots of bargains, but also new additions (which I can hopefully cover in the time before/during/after Christmas).
