Akupara Games‘ adventure titles Keep in Mind: Remastered, The Crow’s Eye, and Whispering Willows are now available to GOG customers.
Keep in Mind: Remastered (or the Deluxe Edition which includes the soundtrack), developed by Little Moth Games and published in March 2018, is about young man Jonas who suffers from alcoholism, grief, and depression. He has to fight his inner demons to overcome his mental illness and embarks on a rather dark and surreal journey to a shadow world.
It’s obvious that the subject matter isn’t for everyone, but knowing the publisher for its diverse range of unique titles, this is no surprise. The Remastered edition fixes a few bugs and has a beautifully arranged soundtrack, enhancing the emotional experience even more.
The Crow’s Eye (or the Deluxe Edition which includes the soundtrack) was made by 3D2 Entertainment and came out in March 2017, treading the first-person horror adventure ground. It takes place on the campus of the University of Medicine & Applied Sciences of Crowswood where the head and founder, William Holtwick, gives his students or rather subjects enough reasons to lose their minds.
Being part puzzle and part platformer as well as exploration game, but without the survival horror action segments one would usually expect, the title certainly has its fair share of very weird and surreal moments. So it’s a bit like Portal, but with more horror thrown into the obstacle courses that are full of physics-based conundrums.
Whispering Willows (or the Deluxe Edition which includes the soundtrack, an artbook, and wallpapers), developed by Night Light Interactive and published in July 2014, was already featured in the Amazon/Twitch Prime free games in May 2019 article, and it’s still a very beautiful-looking puzzler.
One plays as young girl Elena Elkhorn who wants to find her missing father in the Willows Mansion. The twist is that by using an amulet he gave to her she can talk to dead people and interact with the spirit world via astral projection, resulting in some rather engaging puzzles (which are hopefully better implemented than in The Medium).
All three games are now available DRM-free on GOG with individual launch discounts that last until January 24, 2022, at 2 PM UTC.
