Game release: “Shadow Warrior 3” (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series)

Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital‘s fun and gory FPS Shadow Warrior 3 has finally smashed through its launch window.

I’ve covered various Shadow Warrior titles in the past, e.g. with the GOG release: “Shadow Warrior Classic Redux”, GOG 10th anniversary celebration with free game “Shadow Warrior 2” + new catalogue games + big sale, Humble Bundle free game “Shadow Warrior: Special Edition”, and Game release: “Shadow Warrior 2” articles. So it’s clear that I was quite excited about the final release of the third instalment.

Fortunately it looks as if the over-the-top gory action is still present and correct, featuring hero-with-an-attitude Lo Wang and his sidekick Orochi Zilla who try capturing an ancient dragon they accidentally released from its prison. Just watching the tongue-in-cheek launch trailer brings a smile to one’s face, and during times of crisis, it’s all the more important to laugh, even if it means shooting crazy monsters with all sorts of ridiculous weapons, including the trusty katana sword and one’s bare fists.

The game is out now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s available in a standard or deluxe edition, which includes the digital soundtrack and artbook as well as exclusive Dragonblood weapon skins for the SMG Sidekicks and the Dragontail katana. Apparently there was a problem with pre-orders on GOG, as the in-game DLCs will be made accessible at a later date. However, anyone who pre-ordered the game in either version will receive the first two games for free.
