GOG weekend sale: “Magnificent 2D platformers”

The sun is shining again and the weather feels more like spring, so GOG’s new weekend sale comes just in time with many shiny 2D platformers.

I’m a fan of all sorts of genres in games, being particularly fond of 2D platformers. The latest GOG promo sale delivers just that: a fun if often frustrating time of jump-and-run shenanigans, usually accompanied by nice pixel or cartoon art and cheerful music.

Here are a few recommendations of games already discussed in the past or that might be covered in the future:

8Doors: Arum’s Afterlife Adventure (see the game release news)
Apotheon (see the game release news)
Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition (see Epic Games Store free game: “Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition”)
Dead Cells (see the game release news)
Enter the Gungeon (see Epic Games Store free games: “Enter the Gungeon” and “God’s Trigger”)
Forgotton Anne (see Humble Square Enix Collective Bundle)
Fury Unleashed (see the GOG release news)
Gato Roboto (see the GOG release news)
GRIME (see the game release news)
Guacamelee! 2
Jet Kave Adventure (see Past gaming events: gamescom 2019, Day 2)
Monster Bash
Monster Bash HD (see the game release news)
Narita Boy (see the game release news)
Neon Abyss (see the game release news)
Rayman Forever
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
Trine Enchanted Edition
Trine 2: Complete Story
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince (see the game release news)
Trine 4: Melody of Mystery
Unbound: Worlds Apart (see the game release news)
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap (see the review)
Yoku’s Island Express (see the GOG release news)

My particular favorites would be the Rayman and Trine games, the latter of which being underrated and simply magical to play (I didn’t even know there was a DLC for the fourth one). So until I’ll get around reviewing these and others from the list, check out the magnificent 2D platformers sale which runs until April 11, 2022, at 1 PM UTC.
