GOG weekend sale: “Games about survival in a post-apocalyptic world”

GOG’s newest weekend sale doesn’t offer a good time to relax but to be immersed in a post-apocalyptic environment.

Sometimes it feels as if we’ve already entered a dark age of humanity with a future looking even bleaker. Fortunately games can serve as an escape from that reality for a few hours or even more, depending on the genre, exemplified with this promo sale.

Here are a few recommendations with quite a few on my to-play/review list:

A New Beginning: Final Cut
BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION (see the game release news)
Darkwood (see the game release news)
Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes Today (see the review)
Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories (see the game release news)
FAR: Lone Sails (see the game release news)
Frostpunk: Game of the Year Edition (see the game release news for the base game)
Journey of a Roach (see the review)
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden – Deluxe Edition (see the GOG release news for the base game)
Outlast (see the review)
Outlast: Whistleblower (see the review)
Outlast II (see the review)
Pathologic 2 (see the game release news)
Pathologic 2: Marble Nest
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour (see the game release news)
Shardlight (see the review)
Song of Horror (see the GOG releases 5 new horror games with a Halloween sale article)
The Flame in the Flood (see the game release news)
This War of Mine: Complete Edition (see the Game update: “This War of Mine: Final Cut” article)
Wasteland 1: The Original Classic
Wasteland 2 Director’s Cut Digital Deluxe Edition (see the GOG free games: “Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut” with classic “Wasteland” + Winter Sale with new GOG Connect titles article; plus: this edition includes the excellently funny The Bard’s Tale as a free goodie)
Yuppie Psycho: Executive Edition

The selection includes a surprising number of survival horror games, but also a few adventures and RPGs. While the former genres offer either terrifying or more relaxed hours of gaming, the latter obviously means more time investment.

The games about survival in a post-apocalyptic world sale runs until May 9, 2022, at 10 PM UTC.
