Spellbound and Microids‘ tactical strategy game Chicaco 1930: The Prohibition gives GOG customers the chance to beat or join crime organisations.

Spellbound certainly knew how to pick different settings for its games. As Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive (see the review) and SpellForce (see the review) fell back on Western and fantasy genres, Chicago 1930: The Prohibition took on the classic 30ies crime stories. Set in Chicago where the mafia controls the city, the game tasks the player to either take care of the crime organization or the police.

Choosing between both sides obviously results in different objectives, but also characters to select. With a team of 5, each with individual abilities and attributes, one tries to survive and complete missions. It’s not all-out action, though, as the Slow Motion Mode helps with strategic planning.

Chicago 1930: The Prohibition was originally released in February 2004 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with an 89% launch discount that lasts until May 25, 2022, at 1 PM UTC.
