Sword N’ Wands and PID Games‘ fantasy platformer Ruggnar comes without the enemies package.

Dwarves are known to use their axes to smash ork heads in fantasy stories, but they’re also known for exploring mines. Here one takes control of the titular hero who is looking for treasure deep underground, requiring all his wits to overcome traps along the way.

While some of this might sound a bit like Spelunky, there are some differences. For instance, one has a limited number of candles to see in dark places, and as the underground system is full of darkness, they’re essential to discover pits, axes, fireballs or other mechanisms that can be the end of Ruggnar’s journey. Unlocking new abilies also helps to survive, but the most useful skill of the player is still his hearing, as each sound can hint at another danger in the darkness that can be avoided.

The game is out now on PC and Nintendo Switch with a 20% launch discount that lasts until June 30, 2022, at 3 PM UTC ((but only for the PC version).
