Ice Code Games and Good Shepherd Entertainment‘s Wild West/horror-themed strategy game Hard West 2 delivers more gory kills with a new developer.
It’s been almost 7 years since the release of the original game and 6 since the add-on Scars of Freedom, but just as with the Desperados series having received a new lease of life with Desperados III and the DLC Money for the Vultures, a new developer can do much with an old franchise, as is the case with this sequel about outlaw Gin Carter and his gang who chase after the Ghost Train which has as much federal gold on board as they can carry.
The catch, however, is that the gang soon encounters more than enough supernatural opposition when fighting for survival becomes more of a priority. Turn-based combat remains as brutal as in the predecessor, harking back to good old violent Spaghetti Western movies with bloody outcomes. Of course in a world where the walking dead and occultists are involved, one doesn’t only use firearms, but witchcraft as well. Taking the environment in might be a good idea, too, as bullets ricochet off surfaces to hit targets that are out of sight otherwise.
The game is out now on PC with a 10% launch discount that lasts until tomorrow, August 11, 2022, at 5 PM UTC.
