Game release: “8-Bit Adventures 2” (PC)

Critical Games‘s retro JRPG 8-Bit Adventures 2 is a love letter to everything the genre had and has to offer for fans.

It’s been almost 2 years since the GOG release of “8-Bit Adventures 1: The Forgotten Journey Remastered Edition”, and time has shown that people still crave for the good old JRPGs of the NES, SNES, and PS1 era. Of course this game has a few modern twists, which can already be seen in the story about a mistreated child who wants to reshape the world with his powers which fit his name of the Glitch.

Exploring a big world map either on foot or via airship brings back memories of the Final Fantasy series, and of course the turn-based battles are reminiscent of games like Chrono Trigger and Mother 3. Being able to have 7 playable characters with their own background stories guarantees a lot of memorable drama and fun scenes, while the pixel art and synth music evoke nostalgic feelings, too.

The game is out now on PC with a 10% launch discount that lasts until February 7, 2022, at 2 PM UTC. It’s also available as a soundtrack bundle.
