Game release: “Still Joking” (PC)

Purple Brick Games‘ interactive fiction adventure Still Joking shows that mirrors can tell all sorts of stories.

After yesterday’s Game release: “1000xRESIST” article, it has become abundantly clear that visual novel games have become quite sophisticated, and this title is another proof for it: One plays as Iris, the mirror reflection of a famous actress that has been murdered in front of said mirror, trying to solve a murder, but also meets other mirror reflections along the way.

So it’s part drama and part detective mystery with a complex world of reflections that is a little bit different on the other side. The most interesting part is that one has over 1000 choices and thus multiple endings for storylines and each character. Plus it has a fully voiced cat, which is saying something about the title itself. One can have a lot of fun actually with strange tasks like accepting a cheese roll from the Chosen One or simply starting to lose one’s mind. So it’s definitely not your typical visual novel or choose-your-own-adventure game.

The game is out now on PC with a 10% launch discount that lasts until tomorrow, May 23, 2024, at 5 PM UTC.
