What would happen if you crossed the stealth gameplay of a 2D Metal Gear Solid with everyday office work or trying not to get fired? Moving Player‘s Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures is that quirky little game.
Do you remember the Merry Gear Solid games featured in Christmas 2015 games special, Part II? Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures is very reminiscent of these, even if it’s not for free. The idea of an office worker who oversleeps after a drinking night and has to get to his desk before anyone realizes he’s late again is ingeniously funny, even if the humor might not be to everyone’s tastes.
Using old donuts to distract security, laxatives to keep colleagues away, manipulating photocopiers or vending machines are only a few of the creative ways how to slink by. Crawling through air ducts and of course Solid Snake’s No. 1 hiding place in the form of a cardboard box are available as means of finding one’s way through various floors undetected.
Arcade-like visuals and music add to the fun. While it might not have the greatest story or memorable characters, it sure looks like a fun attraction to while away the boring office hours or (more safely and recommended) play after a hard day’s work.

This reminds me a bit of “Gefeuert – Dein letzter Tag”. I don’t know if it even has an English title. It’s a game about Jo Bless (pun intended) who spends his last day at work wreaking havoc and avenging his dismissal (e.g. manipulating the photocopier , tearing posters from walls etc.). The player’s goal is to destroy as much as possible without getting caught. Maybe you wanna check it out 😉
Ah yes, I had something like this title on my mind, it was a pretty bad game, wasn’t it? But I’ll check it out, thanks for reminding me :).
Yes, it was pretty bad. But sometimes even bad games (or movies) are worth checking out 😉 Have fun 🙂
Couldn’t agree more with bad movies, even though spending more time on bad games is a different thing, except if you stop playing and not bothering finishing it (something I usually do with games) ;). German games trying to be funny can be found in dozens, German games which are actually funny, that usually doesn’t happen so often :).
