GOG release: “Torii”

Moswig‘s artful and insightful puzzle platformer Torii makes its debut on GOG.

GOG’s Spring Sale has occupied most of my time and there are still a couple of releases with discounts until the end of it worth discussing, like Torii that is appealing in both its presentation and storytelling. Following young girl Ipa and spirit companion Moswig (as a bag pack or emotional baggage?), one is looking for memories in order to save her little sister Lulu while also facing Ipa’s fears and guilt.

If this sounds like out of a fairy tale and not that special, then one should have a look at the way how one switches between realities and goes into Astral mode to interact with prisms to solve puzzles. Traversing Astrum’s Kingdom one encounters other travelers and learns about their histories as much as of the protagonist’s own memories. One collects cards to either unlock memories or solve the travelers’s problems, with each one offering a poem that has a special meaning for Ipa and Moswig.

Torii was originally released in November 2022 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 40% launch discount that lasts until tomorrow, April 3, 2023, at 2 PM UTC. The soundtrack can also be bought separately with the same discount.
