Loria’s classic RTS game Loria takes GOG customers back to the good old fantasy times.
There was a time when Blizzard ruled the RTS genre (in competition with Westwood Studios) after the release of the original WarCraft and its sequel with an emphasis on high fantasy. Now the company is obviously the biggest player in the industry and is more focused on multiplayer gaming. So it’s great to see indie developers relive the old times and bring their own version of the RTS games to people, which is certainly true of Loria, but with modern controls and some gameplay changes.
Presenting real-time strategy gaming with 2 playable races and 2 campaigns with 8 missions each, there are also RPG elements like hero units, collecting items and quests that can or have to be completed during missions. With lots of units to recruit, buildings to raise and upgrades to consider, plus 6 unique heroes and veteran units, there’s certainly enough to please fans of the original Blizzard titles, especially since the colorful comic-like visuals are quite similar. If the epic storyline and characters remain as memorable as the big player’s achievements remains to be seen, but it all seems to be a nice trip back down RTS memory lane.
Loria was originally released in November 2018 and is now available DRM-free on GOG with a 20% launch discount that will last until August 28th, 1pm UTC.
