July 2019 had one very special live show on Netflix of a YouTube sensation that was more than just a little bit funny.
Miranda Sings Live… Your Welcome [9/10]
After having covered both seasons of Haters Back Off! in the Netflix watchlist: May 2019, the live show Miranda Sings Live… Your Welcome was a must-see. Even if I’ve never been a fan of YouTube celebrities and I’m still not sure if I want to watch Colleen Ballinger’s daily performances in that format, this show was just as funny as hell. This is probably because despite all the nonsense and some inappropriate blasphemy (Miranda wants to be become a saint), the show told more about the YouTube and social media generation than most newspaper articles and university papers can convey. Making a song about haters on the internet and also reading from a diary (diarrhe) (I already purchased; see the next New additions to the media collection post) is genius. Add some horrible singing that can only be done by someone who can sing, and you have more than one memorable moment. Even if the series won’t get another season, maybe there will be more live shows or even a movie? Count me in!
Only one thing to watch in a whole month? Yes, there are way more reasons to dig into Netflix’s library, but simply not enough time. Still, it’s better to pick a few than writing about boring shows and movies, isn’t it? Also saves a lot of space and time.
