The end of the pandemic is still very far away, but yesterday we were lucky enough to have our late wedding reception with a small circle of people.
It’s a crazy and difficult time to get married with the current Coronavirus situation, but after our marriage in the local registry office in January 2021 and in church 4 months ago, we managed to organize an afternoon/evening dinner “party” with 8 other people on July 24, 2021.
We were in luck having started the 3-courses-meal event before the restaurant’s (my sadly deceased grandfather frequented a long time ago) public opening hours. Not having a closed-off room for ourselves, it was nice to have some quiet time, even though it became very strange to see so many people occupying the rooms afterwards (it was raining that day, so there were more people inside) as if the Coronavirus didn’t exist.
We had a wedding cake (see the pictures), but no DJ or big dancing party, and that was fine. At the end of the day we blew some soap bubbles on the balcony, which was cool as well (and which wouldn’t have come down so well in public due to hygiene regulations, obviously).
Looking at the increased number of infections, waiting longer for the wedding reception didn’t make much sense, as I’m pretty sure we’ll have another lockdown soon, no matter what the government promises. So it’s great to have been able to pull this whole thing off without any problems.
Coming soon… the honeymoon trip to Disneyland Paris in France!
